Tracy gets back from dropping Ashley off from school this morning, runs up stairs and tells me there is a snake in our garage caught on our sticky trap. I was like no way. She was right. As soon as I got there, the snake was still alive, but just stuck to the trap. This picture is after the shovel did it's job.

About a month ago I started playing my trumpet again, after a four year hiatus. Daily I try to get 15 - 30 minutes of practice as I start the road of recovery. The last thirty days is really the first time that I have ever played my trumpet around Max, he still isn't quite sure what this noise maker is. Many of you know that I fly quite a bit, especially during the summer. Well as of this month, things have changed in my air travel. The Drum Corps International offices moved from Chicago to Indianapolis and for the past five years I have been a Premier United member for the past four years with about 75% of my travel to Chicago. Now after the move, if I was to remain on United I would have to connect through Chicago then fly to Indy. My thought in traveling, is the more layovers the more delays, so staying on United just wasn't the best move for me. [More]

Tonight, more than 40 guys from our church are embarking on a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico to build four houses for four needy families. We will be meeting each of the families early tomorrow morning and then over the next 48 hours constructing them a new home, made of of cement and cinder block. Just give me the chills thinking about it what an incredible service and experience this is going to be. On Sunday we will all worship together in their local church. Then we will all head back to IAH Sunday night.

This is awful. Before you read this entry play like you are John Williams. Here's the story... "There are many things that make the following video amazing. For starters, it's called "Star Wars Trumpet" -- that should be enough right there. But no, it gets better. For the trumpeteer is a girl named Stacey Hedger, who appears on stage wearing the finest black unitard with silver sparkle-fringed sleeves the 1980's had to offer. And just when you think you're about to be blown away by her unbelievable horn skills... she proceeds to pump out the most cacaphonous, ear-splitting rendition of the Star Wars theme imaginable. Thankfully, this doesn't stop her from using her trumpet as a deadly blaster!....

Blogging about nothing really

I have nothing to blog that's any huge relevance in the online world, but I just thought I would give you a quick update of what's going on with me. Tentatively headed to San Fransisco on 10/17 for two days. Just was put on my schedule yesterday. Technical meeting of the minds or something like that. Anytime a meeting involves Dave Gibbs it will be roller-coaster. Closing for the new house is happening on 10/31. Pics to come soon. Move in immediately after. Leaving to administer a live broadcast on 11/3 in San Antonio at the Alamodome. Leave again for five year anniversary to Napa Valley (actually Sonoma) on 11/7. Yay for Tracy and I! Head back on 11/11, leave again on 11/14 for another live broadcast in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. When do I unpack? Ashley just had about 2 inches taken off her bangs yesterday. Don't know how the girl could see. She is going to be a tutu fairy princess for Halloween. She is doing really well in Mothers Day Out. She's a professional climber. Spending lots of time for work in EXCEL. Dollars and cents in cells and rows are cool, but sometimes I need to break out some ColdFusion and just code. Do you eBay? If so, you need this application. Thank me later after you have used it online and offline. Still training for the Houston half-marathon in January. Keep tabs at my MotionBased digest. Trying for 7 miles this Saturday morning. Animator vs. Animation

If you do any Flash animation you will appreciate this movie. An animator faces his own animation in deadly combat. The battlefield? The Flash interface itself. A stick figure is created by an animator with the intent to torture.
